Installation

  • Unzip ImageMagnet.zip file (that we sent you) in a directory on your system. If you don't have a utility to unzip files, you can always get it from WinZip web site
  • Double click on Setupexe file from the folder where you unzipped the product files.
  • Now follow the instruction from set up wizard.
  • In couple of steps the product will be installed on your system.

Configuration

We respect the user settings for Internet Explorer. We don't enable the Image Magnet tool bar automatically. So after installation is complete, you may not see the tool bar immediately. Here are 2 steps that will need to follow to enable it.

1.
Unlock Internet Explorer tool bar by clicking on "Lock the Toolbars" if you see a check mark infront of it, as shown in the above image. If it is already unlocked, there is nothing to do it this step.

2.

Now click on "Image Magnet" menu option to enable this bar.

3. Sometimes a lot of space has been taken up by other tool bars. This tend to push new tool bars to the right of the screen. You can drag the Image Magnet tool bar to the location of your choice. Once the tool bar has been enabled, it will appear on Internet Explorer as shown below.

Settings

You can configure the following settings by clicking on the "Options" button from the tool bar.

  • Folder Location: You can specify the location of the directory where you want to save the images by clicking on folder selection button.
  • 1x1 Images: This option let you specify if you want to download the tiny tiny images from a page or not. These images are used by sites for page layouts. By default this option is turned off.
  • Unique file names:This option let you specify if the images should be saved with unique names or not. For example if there is already an image named C.gif in your folder and the new page has image with same name. Then if this option is on then the image from new page will be saved with name C1.gif or the next available name does not exist in the folder. If you have turned off this option then previous file will be overwritten by the new one. By default this option is turned on.

When you click on the "Get Images" button for first time, the "Options" dialog box will come up automatically if you have not specified a valid directory for storing images.

Now you are ready to catch some images from any page you visit.
